Introducing FasterForward: Our Approach to Sustainable Business

FasterForward is our three-part programme with ambitious commitments and diverse activities, covering Informa’s business operations, our brands and products, and our broader community impact. As laid out in Informa’s Sustainability Report 2023, ‘our FasterForward targets are deliberately challenging. The world does not have the luxury of time, so we are all in a race to find sustainable solutions, given the potentially irreversible consequences for failure’.

Here’s how Smartcore is moving FasterForward to a better future:

I. Faster to Zero

Under Faster to Zero, we are actively working towards becoming carbon neutral as a business and across our products by 2025.

i. Through our work in the DIMPACT coalition, we are working to develop methodologies that enable us to calculate digital emissions.

ii. Sustainability initiatives are high on our digital marketing and event agenda during our presence at Fi Europe and Vitafoods Europe. 

iii. 100% of the electricity used in our offices comes from renewable energy, and since 2020, we have been carbon offsetting for business travel.

 

II. Sustainability Inside

Sustainability Inside fuels us to embed sustainability inside 100% of our brands by 2025 and help and promote the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

i. As it stands, we strive to do our part by contributing to the following UN SDGs:

  • Our smarter digital marketing solutions empower the health and wellness industry by amplifying the messaging, brand visibility, and thought leadership for food and nutraceutical ingredient businesses. By providing tailored digital tools, we help these companies effectively communicate the value of their offerings, supporting advancements in nutrition, well-being, and overall health.

  • As a trusted B2B digital marketing partner, we’re committed to educating and inspiring the food and nutrition community. Through our free Resource Centre, which draws over 20,000 users annually, we offer smarter digital marketing tips, tools, and thought leadership resources—blog posts, webinars, videos, eBooks, and infographics. Our objective? To empower individuals and businesses with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed. 

  • Gender equity is promoted through our Fi Global Insights Women in Health and Vitafoods Insights Women in Nutrition series. Here, we connect the most innovative people working in food and nutraceutical ingredients and their applications, enabling them to share their insights both online and in-person at Fi Europe and Vitafoods Europe, respectively.

  • We are dedicated to supporting innovative and sustainable startups in the food and nutrition industry through the Fi Europe Startup Challenge and Vitafoods Europe Startup Challenge, respectively. This includes free digital marketing services worth 60,000 euros. By showcasing their sustainability initiatives, we aim to help drive economic growth, foster innovation, and promote responsible business practices.

 
To startups we also offer discounted digital marketing products and packages totalling up to 150,000 euros per year. This approach encourages valuable partnerships and facilitates financial flow between buyers and suppliers in the food and nutraceutical ingredients industry.

 

III. Impact multiplier

Impact multiplier relates to the positive impact we create when we can improve access to our specialist knowledge and help people connect more efficiently.
